Annual Public Meeting

November 7 @ 7:00 pm - 8:30 pm NZDT

New Zealanders didn’t vote for a war on nature, so what can we do about it?

Kate has recently been appointed as Forest & Bird’s new President, and the first woman to hold the role in 101 years. Kate is taking on the position at one of the most critical times for the conservation movement in Aotearoa New Zealand. The mounting list of threats to our wildlife and wild places include the Fast-track Approvals Bill, cuts to Department of Conservation’s (DOC’s) funding and staffing, reversing the ban on offshore oil and gas exploration, risks to freshwater and stewardship land, and much more.

You’ll hear from Kate on the current status of the coalition government’s policies, what is being mobilised in defence of our environment and how you can make a difference.

Kate has previously been a policy advisor on climate change for the Minister of Transport and on freshwater policy for the Department of Conservation. She is also on the Board of Aongatete Forest Project, the co-governance Manaaki Kaimai Mamaku Trust and Save the Kiwi.

After Kate’s talk, we’ll serve tea, coffee and some delish home baking – you’re warmly invited to join us.

The event is free and all are welcome.
