Managing Animal Pest Control Operations Course

Last year, in response to feedback from many community and iwi groups DOC offered information sharing sessions to help reduce the stress on individuals and groups that are managing pest control operations on public conservation land. It was targeted specifically for community group trustees, key operational leaders and those preparing to step up into those roles.  The sessions were designed to build the skills and knowledge required to plan and deliver operations safely and efficiently with minimum stress. Topics covered included:

Community organisation structures  and models – roles and  responsibilities.

Operational Planning – Pre-planning, legal framework, monitoring, delivery.

Tools and resources – checklists, communications plan, GANTT chart, training.

Current technical advice on pesticide options and use.

DOC would like to offer this opportunity again in both Rotorua and Katikati if sufficient numbers are interested. If there is anything specific that you wish to be covered please make it known prior and they will do our best to include in the 4 hour session. Times and locations to be confirmed once they have indication of interest. Please also let DOC know of a preference for weekend or weekday

Please respond by 24th March if you are interested as they plan to deliver in April. Feel free to pass this onto others who may be interested.

Also just a heads up for people looking at getting into or learning more about trapping there is an introduction to predator pest trapping methods course coming up soon in Rotorua (21-22 May) and Hamilton (5-6 Nov) run by NMIT. Places are limited so get in early
